Sorry about the Museum Strategy Blog hiatus everybody! No excuses really, just that even though it’s finished, the Communicating the Museum conference continues to occupy a lot of our time. We have been spending our days writing up the syntheses of all the sessions, sorting out a massive pile of photos of everybody and are already starting to work hard on our next conference, CultureBusiness.
This is really just a quick post to say thank you so much to everyone who came to the conference and made it such a huge success. Claire and myself were of course there to help out but it never once felt like work! Meeting museum professionals from all over the world, discussing their ideas on the subject of social media for cultural organisations, listening to speakers like Shelley Bernstein, Molly Flatt and Jim Richardson, all in a beautiful setting – it was a perfect few days, and incredibly inspiring.
Photos from the event are now online. You can find them on the Communicating the Museum website or our Flickr page. Summaries and slides from the Powerpoint presentations of all the sessions are now on our website as well, you can find them here. Discussion continues on the Communicating the Museum hashtag #ctm09 – feel free to use it if you have anything to add. And Jim Richardson has drafted a social media plan after all the discussion at the conference. It is on his blog, Museum Marketing. It’s a great summary of all the ideas that were floating around in Malaga and very useful too – highly recommended reading from us at the Museum Strategy Blog!
We’ll be back posting regularly now, the conference has given us a lot of food for thought. Tomorrow our thoughts on Shelley Bernstein and Will Cary’s keynote speech: “Growing Community at the Brooklyn Museum”
